Sydney Olivia Scheller
Hi! I'm so happy you're here. I'm Sydney, a Communication Ph.D. student at Texas Tech University and strategic communication consultant.
I am passionate about religious communication, specifically studying faith-based organizations. At my core, I am continually invested in the ethics of marketing faith, which includes digital evangelism, among other areas of study. Currently, I look at how faith-based organizations communicate identity and retain people—whether through structured travel experiences that build loyalty or through crisis messaging that helps maintain trust.

I believe raising up the next generation of world-shakers in and out of the classroom is how we create true cultural change. So, my happiest place in the classroom (but my second happiest place is anywhere warm and sunny!)

Events and Media Samples
Asbury offers many multimedia classes which are required for communication majors. From event management to interactive media to photography to graphic design, I have many projects of which I am particularly proud. Click below to see my full library of creative and live event work.

Publications
A paper I wrote alongside Dr. Elizabeth Jones and fellow M.A. student Nathan Vick was published in a social media influencers textbook in March 2021. The article focuses on finding patterns between megachurch pastors' social media habits and social media influencers' habits on the same platforms. This article, titled "#MarketingFaith," was adapted from my bachelor's thesis titled, "Megachurch Pastoral Online Authority and Influence Cultivation," presented at the SEARCH symposium at Asbury University in Spring 2019.
